About Us

The New Zealand Secondary School Photography Competition has been organised by two passionate young photographers, Petra Patterson and Sally Zhang, who want to provide young New Zealanders with the opportunity to compete with each other in a photography competition designed for them. They originally initiated a small photography group that held weekly themed competitions amongst students in their school and local community; and decided to pursue this idea further and create a nationwide photography competition that was open to all secondary school students. They were inspired to create this competition as they noticed a lack of opportunities for budding photographers in their community. They feel that the New Zealand youth has a lot of artistic potential and they hope that this competition will showcase Kiwi talent to the world. They hope you enjoy the exhibition, and continue to support this initiative in coming years.
